The generator accepts first and last name, organization, job title, email, phone, address and website. You do not need all of them, and on a static code every field you add makes the pattern denser — so there is a real reason to be selective rather than exhaustive.

For most professional use, name, organization, title, email and phone carry almost all the value. A full street address is worth adding for a shopfront, a clinic or anywhere people physically visit, and worth omitting for a remote consultant where it only adds density for no benefit. A website is worth including when the destination is a portfolio or company page that adds context a card cannot.

Enter the phone number in full international format, starting with the country code, so it dials correctly for someone scanning abroad. Use the name exactly as you want it filed in someone’s address book — whatever you type is what gets saved.

Print the code at 2 cm by 2 cm (about 0.8 inches) or larger. That is the practical floor for reliable close-range scanning, and it is comfortable on a standard 85 by 55 mm business card. Static vCard codes hold more data and carry a denser pattern, so give them the larger end of whatever space you have.

Leave a clear margin of empty space on all four sides — roughly the width of four of the small squares in the pattern. This quiet zone is what lets a camera find the code’s edges, and codes that fail to scan in the field have usually been crowded to the border of a design.

Keep contrast high and the orientation conventional: dark pattern on a light background scans best, and inverting it to a light pattern on dark defeats some scanning apps entirely. If you add a logo to the centre, keep it small and test the printed card with more than one phone before committing to a full run.
